Innovative solutions for sustainable banana cultivation in the face of global challenges
Learn MoreBanana production is under siege. Devastating diseases like Fusarium TR4 and Moko are rapidly spreading through contaminated irrigation water, threatening the livelihoods of millions and the stability of global food security. The Cavendish banana, the staple part of over 47% of global production, is particularly vulnerable. Once these pathogens take hold, fields can become unusable for up to 30 years, resulting in crippling economic losses.
A resilient fungus that spreads through contaminated soil, tools, and water, making eradication nearly impossible.
Caused by Ralstonia bacteria, it devastates plants by inducing wilting and death.
The genetic uniformity of the Cavendish banana makes entire plantations susceptible to rapid disease transmission.
Global Production at Risk
Years of Unusable Fields
Livelihoods Affected
A Banana Services offers a cutting-edge solution to combat these threats: UV Light Disinfection. Our advanced UV irradiation technology has been specifically designed to eradicate Fusarium TR4 and Moko caused by the Ralstonia bacteria. Both diseases are often spread via irrigation water. By using our technology you will safeguard your crops and ensure a sustainable future for your business.

A History of Innovation and Success
Wageningen University Research examines the efficacy of UV technology against TR4 and the Ralstonia bacteria highlighting its potential as a remedy against widespread plant infections in banana farming.
Wageningen University conducts a dynamic on-site test at a facility of a manufacture. Water contaminated with TR4 is treated and the practicality and effectiveness of UV technology is demonstrated.
First installation: In February the first successful field trials take place in the Philippines, on our compound in Padada.
Field validation: In March Dr. ing. H. Meijer from WUR validates UV-C technology during experience days, witch isoverseen by partners and customers. Three independent labs confirm a 100% eradication rate of TR4 and the Ralstonia bacteria.
Orders: By August the first UV-C units are operational in the banana sectors of the Philippines and Ecuador.
Technology Update: Due to growing demand, enhancements for online monitoring, increased capacity, and energy efficiency lead to a second version development with a unique “flowplate”. This second version has been developed in cooperation with Van Remmen.
By April five large units and thirteen smaller units are available. Each variant, matched to specific water quality needs, is tested and proven effective.
